Create and manage a folder
Create a folder
Section titled “Create a folder”From the Folders area, click + New Folder. A folder only needs a name and an optional description — there’s nothing else to fill in at creation time.
You automatically become the folder’s Owner.
The folder’s Overview tab
Section titled “The folder’s Overview tab”Opening a folder shows three tabs: Overview, Members, and Collections. Overview shows:
- The folder’s description.
- An Activity summary — how many conversations, collections, and members it has.
- Its Configuration — for example, its memory scope and default assistant.
- A New conversation button to start chatting inside the folder right away.
Add conversations to a folder
Section titled “Add conversations to a folder”Drag a conversation from your conversations list onto a folder to file it there, or drag it back out to the unfiled list. You can also use a conversation’s ••• menu → Move to a folder — see Share, export, and organize.
Rename, hide, or archive a folder
Section titled “Rename, hide, or archive a folder”From a folder’s card, or its entry in the sidebar, open its ••• menu:
- Rename it — Owners and Admins.
- Hide it — anyone. This only changes what you see; it doesn’t affect anyone else in the folder.
- Archive it — Owners only. Archiving moves its active conversations into your Archived list too; its knowledge collections aren’t affected. Unarchiving is also Owner-only, from the same menu.
Delete a folder permanently
Section titled “Delete a folder permanently”Deleting is separate from archiving, and you reach it through archiving: archive the folder first, then delete it from your Archived list. Like archiving, deleting is Owner only.
That two-step path is deliberate. Archiving is the reversible option and covers most of what people mean by “get rid of this” — the folder leaves everyone’s active list and can be brought back at any time. Deletion is the end of the line:
- The folder and its membership are gone for everyone, not just you.
- It can’t be unarchived or recovered afterward.
- Its knowledge collections aren’t deleted — they’re unlinked from the folder and stay in Knowledge, where anyone who had separate access to them keeps it. See Knowledge in folders.
