Folder members and roles

Every folder has exactly one Owner — whoever created it — plus any number of Admins, Members, and Viewers.

Transfer ownership

The Owner is the only person who can archive a folder — or delete one, which is done from the Archived list and can’t be undone. If you’ve been added to a folder you no longer want, leave it instead. See Create and manage a folder.

From a folder’s Members tab, click Invite member, search by name or email, choose a role — Admin, Member, or Viewer — and click Invite. You can’t invite someone directly as Owner; ownership only moves via a transfer (below).

A folder can only have one Owner. If you’re the Owner and want to hand the folder off — for example, before leaving it yourself, or before deleting your account — transfer ownership to another member from the folder’s menu.

Transferring is the right move whenever the folder should outlive your involvement in it. Leaving isn’t available to an Owner, and deleting would take the folder away from everyone else in it.
