Glossary
A quick reference for the terms you’ll meet across Chat.
Working in Chat
Section titled “Working in Chat”Conversation : A single chat thread. Conversations live in your Chats list, and can be filed into a folder, shared, exported, or archived. See Share, export, and organize.
Composer : The chat box at the bottom of a conversation, where you type. It also holds the attach menu, the Web toggle, the Knowledge picker, and the assistant & mode pill.
Chat mode : How much thinking goes into a single reply — Quick, Thinking (the default), Research, or Thought Partner. Deeper modes take longer and use more of your allowance. See Chat modes.
Shared conversation : A conversation other people can see. Share with Can view (read) or Can edit (contribute). Everyone in a folder can take part in conversations inside it.
Your material
Section titled “Your material”Knowledge collection : A named set of documents Chat can search and cite when answering. Up to 5 documents per collection, 30 MB per file. See Knowledge Collections.
Collection type : Which of the three kinds a knowledge collection is — Personal (you created and manage it), Shared (someone else shared it with you), or Chat (created from files uploaded straight into a conversation, and promotable to Personal). See Collection types and sharing.
Web crawl : Reading a public web page into a collection or a conversation, so answers can cite it. See Add a web page with a crawl.
Folder : A shared space grouping related conversations, with its own members and linked knowledge. Sometimes shown as a Project. See Folders.
Attachment : A file sent with a single message, as opposed to a document added to a collection. Up to 5 files per message, 30 MB each.
Assistants and safety
Section titled “Assistants and safety”Assistant : A saved setup — a system prompt, optionally paired with knowledge collections and a guardrail pack — that you pick for a conversation. See Assistants.
Business Assistant : The general-purpose assistant every workspace starts with. It can’t be deleted or deactivated, and doesn’t count against your plan’s assistant limit.
System prompt : The standing instructions given to an assistant when it’s created, applied to every conversation that uses it.
Guardrail pack : A set of rules checking messages and replies against your organization’s policies. A pack takes effect only once it’s attached to an assistant — this is a manual step. See Guardrails.
Guardrail rule : One check within a pack, of one of 8 types (content safety, PII protection, jailbreak detection, allowed or restricted topics, language enforcement, keyword filter, competitor mentions). PII rules redact what they find; the rest block. See Guardrail rule types.
Reading a reply
Section titled “Reading a reply”Company Knowledge : A badge meaning the reply drew on a knowledge collection linked to the conversation.
Common Knowledge : A badge meaning the reply came from the assistant’s general knowledge, not your documents.
Web Enriched : A badge meaning the reply used web search.
Sources used : The list beneath a Company Knowledge reply showing which documents it drew from, each with a snippet and a link to the original.
Governance drawer : The panel behind the shield badge on a reply, summarizing what protected that specific answer. See Per-message transparency.
Your workspace
Section titled “Your workspace”Tenant : Your organization’s workspace — its members, folders, knowledge, assistants, and settings. Your data stays inside it.
Tenant Admin : The role that manages the workspace: settings, billing, members, assistants, guardrails, and governance across the tenant.
Member : The standard role. Members work in Conversations, Folders, and Knowledge Collections.
Conversational Replay : How a Tenant Admin reviews a member’s conversation history, for governance. Each review is recorded in the audit log. See Conversational Replay.
Audit log : The record of activity across your workspace — sign-ins, settings changes, and message activity. See The audit log.
Plans and usage
Section titled “Plans and usage”swToken : The unit your monthly allowance is measured in. It reflects how much work a reply took, so a Thought Partner answer costs more than a Quick one — it isn’t a word count.
Allowance : Your plan’s monthly swToken budget. On Solo, reaching it pauses new requests; on paid plans you’re warned as you approach it but can keep working. See Billing.
SUPERWISE AMP : The SUPERWISE platform where the agents behind your assistants run. A tenant is created there alongside your Chat workspace; the SUPERWISE Connection indicator in tenant settings shows whether Chat can reach it.
